I was most impressed when I walked in to my hotel room recently to find a Napoleonic battle painting on the wall. It showed red coated French Infantry defending the attic of a building. I assumed them to be Swiss and was generally impressed with the subject and atmosphere of the work. About a week later I googled it only to find out that the original has blue coated French infantry!! Has anyone seen this sort of copying before? Seems strange to go to the trouble of changing a uniform colour.
So, also, WARNING, always check out a painting before you buy it.
