In my research on Wellington in the Peninsular war, I’m trying to discover other sources for his communications before he went to Portugal in 1808. There is a gap in the dispatches between his planning to go to South America and then he is arranging for the Royal wagon prior to leaving for Portugal. I need to review the various editions of the dispatches to see is one is better than the other.
Also, is there a known diary of appointments? People he met with once he knew he was going to Portugal?
I’m going to be looking for Castelreigh’s papers.
Looking for a list of what books he may have acquired for the campaign in Portugal and Spain. I did read when he went to India, he took books, some titles were listed in Lady Longford’s biography.
Thanks
