Hello David,

1) You are very welcome on the book recommendation; I honestly found it a perfect combination of accurate direction and useful information.

2) I was expecting some undulations but the sheer scale/size of the dips astonished me. Of particular fascination was the area in and around Plancentoit (particularly to the east from where the Prussians were advancing). Having only ever seen the area depicted on the wargames table, I was amazed by the sunken lanes, the elevated position of the church, and the depth of the "saucer" in which the western half of the village stood. There was a similar moment when I realised that you couldn't see Hougoumont from La Haye Sainte (and vice versa) - again, a perception that you don't receive from maps.
