My current research is into the battle of Lincelles in 1793 and street fire is mentioned by "an Officer of the Guards" who describes a party of the 3rd Foot Guards employing street fire in defence of one of the supporting battalion guns. There is a definition of it in W. Duane, A Military Dictionary ..., 1810, p. 160.
