Büchel den 26ten January 1814.

This is a confirmation about the amount of Portionen (rations for a man) and Rationen (rations for a horse) which the village of Büchel supplied to the 5th company during their stay.

Such a confirmation seems to me quite unusual, as such a confirmation would be useful only to prove that the unit did not take more that was its due, in the case that later claims would show up.

Normally, the unit would confirm to the village or town that it received supplies, so that the village or town could later try to get the expenses (or at least part of them) back from their government.
