They say the boots are the equivalent of a modern size 40, if that is the European standard that equates to a British size 7 which is quite small for men so I can't see that it helps with the size discussion. However I think Napoleon was said to have rather small hands and if his feet were small in proportion the size 40 probably helps support the provenance.
