I am sure that I read somewhere, years ago, that the Prince of Orange issued orders that the Netherlands Army in the Waterloo Campaign was to operate in 2 ranks. Clearly, as someone who had served with Wellington's Peninsular Army, he thought this was superior to the French doctrine of forming in 3 ranks. It may well be that other "British" innovations were introduced into the Netherlands Army.
