Thank you for the references, book sources and comments. It is odd, but if Rottenburg did collect information from other sources, it would be interesting to know which. Rottenburg himself actually fought against the Prussians with the Poles before enlisting in the French army @1786. He left in 1791 and joined the British Army. His 'regulations' were only made official after he wrote them @ 1797-8.
