Thanks, Ron - I particularly liked the 1809 Militia List which included Captain William Henry Bacchus in the 2nd Royal Surrey Militia. I initially assumed that this was a nom de guerre chosen on joining the militia, but a quick google search shows that if so, he stuck to it, came out to Australia after the war (Bacchus Marsh is a well known country town in Victoria, and was named after him), and that his son Henry William Bacchus was born here in Adelaide in 1840!
