Re: French Legere Uniforms 1805 - 1806: Colpacks

H. Knötel was not a serious researcher, much in contrast to his father - his works have to be cross checked severly, he is responsible for a lot of entrenched errors - like uniforms of Tirailleurs du Po - or the superlight blue Bavarians.

The paper soldiers were just copied for convenience, you had to live as a military painter and out put was life saving.

Voltigeurs came very late - their distinction was the yellow collar as such, as to if French light infantry Voltigeurs did wear colpacks, I would like to see primary sources and not cheap copies of not contemporary paper soldiers.

Colpacks became fashionable for the Chasseurs a Cheval, especially officers - regardless of being in the elite companies or not, according to Magerand - after the Consulate, contemporary pictures for elite companies of chasseurs a cheval troopers do exist - why not for Voltigeurs?
