A quick Google suggests that his name was variously spelled Spry or Sprye in material printed between 1810 and 1820, including the Annual Register (Sprye), the Gazette (Spry) and the House of Commons Journal (Sprye). It would be interesting to see if he himself spells his name the same (or differently!) anywhere else.
