It might be a bit too much generalising to speak of "the Saxons" mutinying against the Prussians. In Lüttich, Blücher was very content with the behavior of men of the former Saxon Leib-Grenadier-Garde who had been guarding his headquarters. Discontent seems to have been common mainly amongst the officer corps of the Saxon line infantry, and spread to their men.

The Saxon cavalry regiments were seperated as late as 17th June 1815. The cavalry men were distributed to Prussia and Saxony according to their home town, the officers were free to chose in which country they wanted to continue their military career.

The cavalry which had become Prussian was commanded by Oberst-Lieutenant Freiherr von Czettritz and formed a provisional regiment consisting of 1 squadron of cuirassiers, 2 squadrons of lancers and 2 squadrons of hussars.

On 19th June they joined Thielmann's III. army corps at Wavre, took part in the attack on Namur on 20th June and marched to Paris. For this campaign, they received eight Iron Crosses.
