Certainly; I have translated scores of histories of German Confederation of the Rhine contingents in the service of France. Most of them served in Spain. ALL accounts relate the chronic lack of food. All record that the units survived only by marauder. There simply was no attempt by the French in Spain to feed their troops from organised depots. There were no convoys of rations sent out to the troops. They sank or swam on what they could find. As this involved taking food from the Spanish by force, this made them rather unpopular.
It is recorded that when Wellington invaded the south of France, the French peasants were pleased to supply his army with food, because they got paid for it, whereas they did not want to provide their own army, who just stole it.
