The KGL Captains and Brevet Majors attached to the Hanoverian Landwehr received provisional (provisorischen) titular major's rank in the Hanoverian Service.

Captain William Stolte was attached as a major and second-in-command in the Nienburg Landwehr Battalion.

Stolte was promoted a major from captain KGL in the Hanoverian Army in 1816 antedated to 30 May 1815. In 1816 the Hanoverian Army was reorganized with the merger of the re- raised army of 1813-1815 and the KGL. He was major of the 3rd Landwehr Battalion Bentheim 9th Infantry Regiment Osnabruck [in 1818].
