Re: Flags of Truce
In Response To: Flags of Truce ()

Hi Rob,

Sorry for the delay in answering (have been away) but this extract from Lt Col Thomas Walsh's diary of the Walcheren expedition (which I published in JSAHR 96 (2018), p. 151) reads as follows: "I came close to the French Picquet with a White Flag in my hand, & the Trumpeter, blowing his Trumpet most lustily" (6 Aug 1809) (... he got fired on, and the next time he went took TWO trumpeters with him, presumably just in case!)

Does this help at all?

Best wishes

Jacqueline
