Stabs-Hauptman v. Dieterich ? *LINK*

Stabs-Hauptmann v. Dieterich was officer in v. Wundt's Regiment (Fuß-Jäger-Regiment König, No. 9).

"Dieterich" sounds much more like a German name than "Odisterick" or the like.

However, the first letter in alll the occurences of the name in the documents looks like a real "O", not like a "v" (see the entry of 7th October at the bottom, for "drap verd").

Could it be that the entries in your list were based on written documents, and copied from there by someone who couldn't decypher Dieterich's signature properly ? Or who didn't know the German concept of adding "v" before the name of a nobleman, thought that "Vdieterich" would sond crude, even for a German name, and turned the "v" into "O" for a nicer name ?

In hand written period documents it is quite common that the "von" was abreviated to a "v" without dot, and even written in one word with the folowing name, e.g. "vYorck".
