Your scenario is plausible. During his campains, Napoleon met his wife (and mistresses) at different times ; not on the battlefield but in safe places.
For instance, in July 1796, during the 1st campaign in Italy, his wife Josephine came to visit him in Milan. Later In Egypt, Napoleon had a mistress nicknamed « Bellilote ». In 1807, during the campaign in Poland, he fell in love with Maria Walewska.
