Re: Blanced and modern study of the 1806 campaign?

Hi

Yes published a century ago, but I am convinced that those works published by the historical sections of either the French or the German general staffs are well standing the test of time and serve as models how military history should be written. In case you read French - then it is available for free on the internet.

I cannot see any English language books on par compared to French or German sources about that campaign, Chandler copies uncritically Petre, I cannot even see a modern French work on this, While I cherish Naulet's books about the 1807 campaign, I found that of Iéna et Auerstedt very disappointing, but at least French authors get the spelling of Auerstedt right.
