As a follow up to the Time Team, POW camp dig and ( of course )
the recent remembrance service to one of the Danish prisoner of war,
Laurenthes Braag in Reading.
Theirs another detailed description of French officers, on parole
in the Staffordshire town of Leek from 1803 until 1814.
It goes into some detail on the 'parole system' employed on the
French officers in Leek and their various activities in the town
during their confinement.
Apparently of the 346 prisoners sent to Leek. 41 managed to escape
( break their parole ) of which only 6 were ever recaptured.
