Susan,
I'm just reading one of the last books of Bernard Coppens - "Waterloo - Les Mensonges"
In this one, Bernard gives a complete analysis why Napoleon couldn' win that campaign
Not only because he lacked all the qualities of a manager should have, but also because he was wishfull thinking that he could winn against all odds against the coalition, whatever a lot of authors believe
He went on war with the army of the first restauration where he was only fully backed up by the common soldiers but were most of the officers weren't that pleased with this new campaign, en he had only 120.000 man ath is disposal where he should have had at least the double
And even a victory at Waterloo would only have bought him time, but I don't believe this should have saved him in the following years
Best regards
Marc
