The anonymous author is said to have been lieutenant en premier in the 1er régiment de cuirassiers, and promoted capitaine on 17th June, replacing a capitaine of his regiment killed the day before. Unitl 1814, he had been officer in the "polish lancers". I bet this doesn't correspond with any really existing officer.
