Thanks for the details.
I thought that heavy cavalry was a "one shot" weapon (they could charge straight, but they were faster blown out and more difficult to rally than line or light cavalry), and thus a reserve corp, to be used on order of the CinC, at the peak of the battle.
But that's perhaps more Napolon's concept than Wellington's one ?
