Herbert Knotel portrayed the undress uniform of the Chasseurs a Cheval as red. That was a depiction of a chasseur, not Napoleon. Rousselot shows an officer of the Guard chasseurs in this uniform and the collar is red. Napoleon, as Emperor, could wear what he wanted, and as his favorite color was green, perhaps that was what he wore. However, the regulation Chasseur undress uniform had red collars and cuffs. Rousselot shows Napoleon in a revue at the Carousel in that undress uniform and he depicts the Emperor with red collar and cuffs.
