Among the cognoscenti of the 1789 to 1815 era, misleading and inaccurate blurbs generally put us off, especially if we don't know the author. Why should I look past historical howlers in the blurb and hope the book itself will be better?
It's fine to write "exciting" copy, but people who know history can do so without inaccurate purple prose.
