Re: Nelson's crime
In Response To: Re: Nelson's crime ()

When Bonaparte was cooling his heels at Mombello, he sent Lannes to Genoa to see what Faipoult was doing. The confrontation between the two was business as usual. Faipoult came across as a prig, self-righteous, standing on protocol, ceremony, and proper respect for diplomatic representatives. Lannes accused him of meddling, stupidity, avarice, and general incompetence, and threatened to run him through if he dared to even try to interfere with is grenadiers. Faipoult whined to Bonaparte, who did nothing other than suggesting that Lannes might want to tone it down a bit. He didn't, of course, and continued to treat Faipoult with contempt.

That's all I know about Faipoult, but if Jean-Boy didn't like him, neither do I.
