I can read German, but very slowly. To speed this up I have discovered that if I highlight and copy each page, then paste it into Google Translate, it does translate it, even although the original was in old German Fraktur script.
The section about their time in UK, including Guensey and Ireland from a quick look, starts on about page 400 of the Wachholz memoirs. It ends shortly after they go to the Peninsula, so if there is anything about drill it should be there.
