All Poles fit for service in December 1812 would have been sent to fill the ranks of Poniatowski`s VIII Polish Corps, Dombrowski`s 27th Independent Polish Division and the IV Polish Cavalry Corps. These formations fought through the 1813 campaign, including the battle of Leipzig. Their remnants would have fought on in the 1814 campaign, so going home in May of that year is logical.
