"I have the honour to report that in compliance with orders to show ourselves towards the front, and threaten an attack on the 31st, I moved my 2nd and my Portuguese brigade to Zugarramurdi, from whence, at daybreak, General Le Cor drove the picquets of the enemy, and followed them with great spirit as they drew back towards Ainhoué.
From their second camp, in front of Urdax, they supported their retiring piquets, and a sharp skirmish took place, in which, I regret to say, my Portuguese brigade lost several officers and about 70 men".
I was wondering what's the difference between threatening and actually attacking, or am I missing something here? Did the 6th Portuguese brigade go a bit too far?
