Re: Lecor's actions: a bit too far?

Anthony

Lecor took the temporary command of the 7th Division as the senior Allied officer in the division. Both Major Generals Barnes and Inglis were considered juniors in Allied rank, all three having been promoted 4 June 1813. Lecor commanded from approximately 9 October to 18 November or so when Major General George Walker, seniority of 1811, was put in orders to temporarily command the 7th Division.

Lecor was then appointed to command the Portuguese Division around 3 December as Lieutenant General Hamilton's health failed.

Wellington and Beresford appreciated Lecor's combat ability. I imagine that leaving him in even temporary command was a statement to his ability but also I think to Allied co-operation.
