Commemorating the "common cause" 1810 - 2010

Moisés,

I do not know of any British plans for celebrations / commemorative events. However, I will obtain contact details and write to the British Council in Lisbon to ask – another potential source of British involvement would be the British Historical Society in Portugal (and so I will write to them too).

But I still think it is interesting that this quote is used in the exhibition. I do not know the local historians who are organising and presenting some of the sessions (as set out in the programme) but one session particularly caught my attention:

e estrangeiros. Sessões dinamizadas por historiadores torrienses. Livros propostos para leitura: “ El Rei
Junot” de Raul Brandão, “ As Aventuras de Sharpe - A fuga de Sharpe. A campanha do Buçaco. Portugal

Why fiction and why not das Neves, Soriano, Chaby or Latino Coelho? Perhaps they have not seen your own excellent bibliography (and the regional histories and monographs that are available to the Portuguese reader)!

Once again many thanks for the pointers and best wishes

Anthony
