British Ambassador on the Lines of Torres Vedras *LINK*

Hi Anthony,

Heres a nice piece written by the current British Ambassador to Portugal, Alex Ellis
concerning the Lines of Torres Vedras as viewed by the british embassy in Portugal.
The Portugeuse website called itinerante.pt - provides lots of other interesting
information concerning the Peninsular War in Portugal.
The site can be viewed either in Portugeuse or English.

Also check out the Parliamentary visit to Portugal in July 2009:

and the Peninsular Wars dinner at the bottom of:

Finally don't miss the piece about the Sword of Honour, presented to General
Francisco da Silveira by the Portuguese residents of London.
For his heroic defence of the bridge at Amarante in 1809.
The sword is similar to the swords awarded by the Lloyds Patriotic Fund to british
officers who distinguish themselves for the defence of the country.
