Re: Dumas' "San Felice"

Thanks.

If I understand the preface written by the researcher who "discovered" the "Chevalier..." and brought it to print, Dumas attempted to write fiction completely covering France's history from the Renaissance to his time, and this book...meant to precede "The Count of Monte Cristo" was a sequel to "The Whites and the Blues." To me it was of interest not only because of its recent discovery, but that it covers Frances history during the Consulate into the Empire. Dumas' characterization of Bonaparte and Josephine was evidently criticized when the book appear serialized in a newspaper, and Dumas was forced to refute this criticism through copious documentation. So I'd say whatever Dumas may have written it was not without historical accuracy.

I'll look for "San Felice" it sounds interesting.
