The point is not the conclusion but the origin.
Is the document referred to in the bibliography or not? You have a copy of Cronin and I don't.
If it isn't, then it must be presumed that the author did not consult it directly. There is nothing incorrect in citing a quote given by another author, it just needs to be identified.
