Slightly off topic, I have just noticed your comment that the temporary light battalions would normally have been comprised of only 4 or 5 companies.

Two of the brigades of theThird division in 1812 at Salamanca contained a light battalion ie the 94th in Campbell's brigade and 12th Cacadores in Manley Power’s Portuguese brigade. Do you know how these were used? Were they included in the temporary light battalions?
