Moreau's wife was much admired by all who knew her. I have never heard that she was jealous in the usual sense but only that she (and her mother) did not see why general Bonaparte's wife should take precedence over general Moreau's. She was a lady of many accomplishments and strong character and a real credit to Mme Campan!.
