Your choice of the two reviews from Amazon are interesting in that they are two of the most critical of the 32 that have been written and posted on Amazon. Why did you pick those two?

Thanks for making my point! I chose these reviews on purpose, not because of their contents.

Reviews are nothing more than a personal opinion/statement. And often these are written in support of someones work. Especially when reviews are anonymous, they have in my opinion no value at all. But even when not: does every reader know how to value the review; what was the relationship between the author and the reviewer? Were they acquaintances? Personal friends? Student and teacher? Requested to write a review after having been send the book? A devoted fan? Or someone with a personal agenda, just dismissing everything someone writes whatever its quality? Having an axe to grind? Or just being jealous?

So in my opinion, the quality of an author's research cannot be ascertained based on reviews, one has to check that for himself. At the most, one could use them to decide if something could be an interesting read.
