I think that the actual rate of pension is an interesting, but now perhaps unnecessary, detail. The straightened financial situation of the Fothergills is implicit rather than excplicit, though I cannot see in the record that he was poverty striken, especially if (as now seems reasonably likely) he was drawing full pay of £136 plus. I am reaching the conclusion that he was more concerned about providing for his wife after his demise than wondering where the next crust was coming from.
Thanks again for your guidance on this one, and, if I think the finished article of a decent standard, perhaps I can run it past you for the Napoleon Series?
Regards
Ian
