No, but Light Dragoons fought lancers at Carpio
In Response To: British 19th lancers ()

Hi,

So it would appear not, but the 14th and 16th Light Dragoons faced lancers at Carpio

According to Oman (slightly incorrectly, it would appear, citing) Tomkinson, 16th Light Dragoons, wrote in his diary that [the lancers of Berg] “looked well and formidable until they were broken and closed with by our men, and then their lances were an encumbrance … many were caught in the appointments of other men, and pulled them to the ground”. Tomkinson, Diary p 115 cited in Oman Vol IV p 564. The latter point would appear to refer to when the lancers were retiring (and were unhorsed?) "they got on the ground, got caught in the appointments of other men, and pulled more [men down]" Tomkinson, p 116

Best wishes
