Re: What's in a name? Napoleon or Bonaparte?

As well as the Kingdom of Italy, Westphalia, and took the Rhineland from France (and whose inhabitants were not too happy under harsh Prussian rule) and with the exception of Bavaria and some of the smaller German duchies generally looted the former states of the Confederation of the Rhine and demanded more 'support' from them than Napoleon ever had. Saxony lost half her territory and army to Prussia; and Prussia was 'rewarded' by a mutiny of the Saxon troops. That paved the way for Prussian dominance of Germany and the consequences of that development. The Papal States were 'reformed' and given back to ecclesiastical rule and the pope reinstituted both the Inquisition and the Jewish ghetto. Then we can also talk about the White Terror of murder, imprisonment, and exile of former Napoleonic officers...
