Ladies and Gentleman,
Following a trip to Paris in 1975, our tour guide (a Belgian lady) remarked that the Louvre "is a monument to the thievery of France." I've always remembered that, since as she pointed out, most of the Spanish, Dutch, German, and Italian art (the Mona Lisa for example) weren't willingly donated to France; they were forcibly taken during the endless wars of France during the 17th, 18th, and 19th Centuries.
For your consideration. Take care and God bless!
