There is no doubt that there is a need of detailed research for the armies on the days leading to 15 June and then from 19 June 1815 to the end.

I agree that with the defeat and then the word of Napoleon's abdication many left the ranks. Wellington himself noted that many cavalrymen were selling their horses and melting into the countryside. Yet 30,000-40,000 from the original numbers and then the loss of those coming from the depots does represent a very large number of men. Davout must have been pulling his hair out!!

While the days after may be anti-climactic, I think it is necessary to do the research to answer many of the "what ifs."
