Anthony,
In the link you are given I see a text full of doubtly sources, especially what concerns the fighting for the castle/farm of Hougomont as there are
- the novel of Victor Hugo, written years after the facts
- the texts of Thiers, known in France for his mythology on Napoleon
- diairies of French officers, mostly written also years after the battle, with in mind the fact that they had to give a better view on their defeat
- paintings and drawings of actual artists also based on non proven sources
- paintings and etchings made years after the battle, still taken the mythology as be proven, etc etc
Maybe this link will give an insight of more real explanations and facts
