According to Dawson, p. 43

Antoine Bouche was a lieutenant in 3rd Company 3rd Battalion. 100 Bouche did not die until 13 January 1839, so clearly he could not have been killed as Pétiet makes out, and neither was he promoted to lieutenant by Marshal Suchet at Tarragone, as he was not promoted to sub-lieutenant until 18 February 1813 when his regiment was in Saxony.

So, things are more puzzling. Cubières recalled a wrong name, the editor of the 1844 edition just modified it to another wrong name.
