Seems they became "women with the British army" quite easily, I hope not to the detriment of the fortunes of those who had "joined the ranks" and "soldiered on" since the early days of the British expedition. One would hate to think that the French had better trollops and thus the new ones came to be preferred over those of proven "service".
One supposes some things were quite the same in all armies of the era.
