Thanks for the kind words and the offer regarding the rosters. I'd love to see a copy of your results. Last year I spent two days in the Archives and another two in Enniskillen. I took a lot of digital images, but I could just weep that some came out a tiny bit blurred, and some of the seams between pages are illegible.
I assume that you had some of the same frustrations that I experinced; the draft from their sister battalion and only seven companies at Waterloo has made a lot of the data tough to sift through. I tried to build a roster by company, but I frankly got stuck. Tactical companies vs. administrative comapnies haunts all the records, methinks, as I witness in our brothers' discussion of the 23rd.
I'd love to do the same exercise for the 27th that is being done for the 23rd; assigning officers by seniority, etc, and placing people in their actual positions. The 27th makes it even more challening by forming a square with just seven companies. Lt. Drewe says that they had "left in front", which might give us a better idea as to which company ended up where. Then using casualty results, we can see why the First Comapny got so shot up.
All the best....slan go foill....Mark
