Actually, as of 2006, the Royal Welch Fusiliers became 1st Battalion of The Royal Welsh and the Royal Regiment of Wales became the 2nd Battalion. Both battalions wear the Flash and both have a Goat.

Both battalions are also fusilier and wear the fusilier hackle. This being the case, why the new regiment was not named The Royal Welsh (Welch) Fusiliers or maybe The Royal Welch (Welsh) Fusiliers is totally beyond me. Maybe someone in Whitehall can explain it.
