A number of French artillery and engineer officers were recruited by the British for service with the army on the Continent in 1794-5 and for Lord Moira's expeditions. Their service may not have been as important as at Acre, but the principle of using former Royalist officers was well-established.
Where's the reference? I see little to read about Moira's expedition to support what you are indicating. You really need to supply some facts here to support the contention that commissioning French officers into the English army had somehow been "well-established"
