I would suggest that you actually look up the difference between a seapower and a land power. There is a major difference. And seapowers did have land forces, and, conversely, land powers also had navies. That does not change where their emphasis was.
British limits to their seapower was clearly demonstrated during the War of the American Revolution where, at the end of the struggle, the British only controlled and occupied three American seaports-New York, Savannah, and Charleston and that was thanks to the Royal Navy.
