It would take a while for the benefits of a naval battle such as Trafaglar to become increasingly apparent. I note that neither Austerlitz nor Jena-Auerstadt were fully beneficial until after Friedland. At least as far as Russia is concerned. Still Napoleon kept a large army stationed in Central Europe even after these decisive victories. He was able to move 100,00 men of the Grand Armee to Spain in 1808/1809.

Britain, being an island of course had that benefit for defence. On the other hand it also made it difficult for Britain to operate on the continent without a secure port and allies.

Neither the militia nor the volunteers (part-time soldiers then) were for general service, but for home defence only. Not unlike Napoleon's National Guard. So Britain had only its regulars available. In 1807, Austria was out of the war, Prussia nearly fully occupied in 1806, Spain an enemy and Russia defeated at Friedland in June and making peace in July 1807. Not many options for Britain.

In 1807 Napoleon could cobble together enough SoL to reach parity with the Royal Navy if he included France, Holland, Spain and Russia. By secret articles in the treaty he would also acquire the navies of neutral Denmark, Sweden and Portugal. This would give him 3:2 superiority over the RN. Imagine if he had had those SoL lost in 1805?

Still with a secure supply line and free range of the seas, Britain could go to Denmark in 1807 or reinforce Sicily, go to Egypt, the Dardanelles, to South America, plan to go to Venezuela and Mexico, send a force to help in Portugal, (arrived too late, though),and then into 1808 of course back to the Baltic, Portugal, Spain. With what interference from the French navy?

While Keith might not like the colder climate Gambier in July 1807 and later Saumarez and Martin didn't mind it. The British did go back in strength, took and held Anholt and Heligoland as bases and continued the Baltic trade despite the Danish gunboats. They, however, very astutely did not press the naval war with Russia even when allied with Sweden. In 1812 the Baltic Fleet, whose numbers fluctuated depending upon need, consisted of thirty-nine ships including ten SoL, six frigates and fourteen sloops.

After 1807, the British were rather quicker to send troops to the continent: Walcheren, Stralsund, Low Countries, Italy while reinforcing Wellington and then from 1812 fighting in North America. All of which involved sea travel.
