perhaps you went a bit too far on your path ?
To take someone prisoner for political reason, implies to separate him/her from family. Duchess escape from Tuscany could not be very different from Napoleon's escape from Elba.
To die in a remote corner of Empire was common fate for vanquished sovereigns, Napoleon was lucky not to join Louis XVI, Paul I, Selim III, Wolfe Tone and others.
And although the war was other,the plots and revolts sparkled all other Europe and America, when Empires and absolutist Kings reversed to old order, gave an excellent, factual reason to confine Napoleon as much as possible.
